UP COMING SEMINAR EVENTS for 2011

Back again by popular demand.
Each year we give early spring seminars for new pumpkin growers. This spring Team-Pumpkin plans 2 grower seminars as part of the Durham Fair Foundation Educational Seminar Series. This years seminars will be in a new location so now is the time to mark your calandars to join us for these seminars at the United Churches of Durham Fellowship Hall. Corner of Route 17 and 68. Parking lot entrance is on Route 68. GPS: 228 Main Street, Durham.

Saturday, March 5th 2pm: "So, You Want to Grow a Giant Pumpkin"
We strongly encourage you and any other growers you know to attend. We are going to go over the basics of growing a giant pumpkin. The goal of this presentation is to give you an idea of the life cycle of a pumpkin plant and what you can do to maximize your chances of growing a truly giant pumpkin. How to select a growing area, do a proper soil test, germinate pumpkin seeds, and fertilize a growing pumpkin plant are just a few of the topics that will be explained. We will also have giant pumpkin seeds.

Sunday, May 8th 1pm: "Show Me the Dirt!! Or Spring Always Brings Surprises"
More details and advanced topics you don't want to miss. This seminar will contain the main points of the first seminar, but will go into some more details. Specifically, how to complete an isolated pollination so that you can produce your own pure-breed giant pumpkin seeds. Novice and experienced growers are encouraged to attend. Plan on doing some garden work when you get home! Seeds will be available following this seminar as well.
