Team-Pumpkin Patch Tours 2010
Team-Pumpkin has planned a series of patch tours, timed to provide the chance for new growers to see how things are done in the patches of experienced growers. You will get to see the patches, compare the plants to your own and most importantly ask as many questions as you can think of. No fear of asking questions in a room full of people, this is you chance to go one on one and ask the things that matter to you and your patch. Lectures and pictures are great but nothing compares to seeing the real thing and being able to pick the brains of experienced growers and take that information back to your patch.
The first patch tour is planned for June 27th and will start in
Wallingford at 11:30am and proceed to additional sites.
Update, the June 27th patch tour was a hit. We were pleased with the attendance and the new growers were able to see several patches of experienced growers, each with their own style. These variations help prompt the new growers to ask more questions and take the knowledge back to their own patch. We were able to provide an impromptu but timely pollination demonstration.
The next patch tour date is set, it will be Saturday 24th July. This is you chance to visit the patches at mid season and see how full sized plants and PUMPKINS are managed. Yes, there should be pumpkins in all the patches.
Please email bart@team-pumpkin.org for additional details and help us plan on your attendance. First time growers and experienced growers are both encouraged to attend.
